Jingshan Luo
Jingshan Luo is a full professor and vice director of the Institute of Photoelectronic Thin Film Devices and Technology at Nankai University. He received his BSc degree in Jilin University in 2010 and his PhD degree from Nanyang Technological University in 2014. After that, he went to École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) in Switzerland for postdoctoral research in the laboratory of Prof. Michael Grätzel, where he led the solar fuel subgroup. In 2018, he joined Nankai University. Jingshan Luo has authored/coauthored 1 book chapter and more than 100 peer-reviewed publications in Science, Nature Energy, Nature Catalysis and other journals in the field, which have garnered more than 21,000 literature citations and an h-index of 66 (Google Scholar).

Lecturer
Dr. Zhaoxi Shen
Zhaoxi Shen received her Bachelor degree from China Pharmaceutical University in 2016 and Master degree from Shanghai Jiao Tong University in 2019. She obtained her doctor degree from University of Macau in 2022. She is now a lecturer in the Institute of Photoelectronic Thin Film Devices and Technology at Nankai University, and her research focuses on electrochemical/photoelectrochemical CO2 reduction and N2, Nitrite reduction.
Postdoctoral Researchers
Dr. Lili Wan
Lili Wan received her bachelor degree in Environmental Science from Inner Mongolia University in 2011 and obtained her master and doctor degrees in Environmental Science from Nankai University in 2015 and 2019, respectively. During her PhD study, she visited Geoffrey A. Ozin’s group in University of Toronto as an exchange doctoral student for one and a half years, where she focused on photocatalytic CO2 reduction and published a work on Nature Catalysis (first author). Her research interests are copper-based nanomaterials for electrochemical/photoelectrochemical CO2 reduction.
Dr. Rong Chen
Rong Chen received her B.S. (2013) and M.S. degrees (2016) from Anqing Normal University and Nanjing Normal University, respectively. She subsequently completed her Ph.D. study in College of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering at Xiamen University from 2016 to 2020. Now she is a postdoctoral researcher and working on highly efficient artificial photosynthesis materials and devices for solar energy conversion.
Dr. Huimin Liu
Huimin Liu obtained her PhD degree in Nankai University under the supervision of Prof. Jingshan Luo. Her research interests are electrochemical reduction of N2, Nitrite and other nitrogen sources to produce renewable ammonia.
Dr. Hang Hua
Hang Hua received his B.S. from Northeastern University (China) in 2016, M.S. from Osaka University (Japan) in 2019, and Ph.D. from Kyoto University (Japan) in 2022. After graduation, he joined Prof. Jingshan Luo’s group at Nankai University as a postdoctoral fellow. He is focusing on the development of highly efficient and selective catalysts and devices for the electrochemical reduction of CO2.
Dr. Dongfeng Du
Dongfeng Du received his Ph.D. degree in 2022 from the College of Chemistry at Nankai University. He is now a postdoctoral fellow in Prof. Jingshan Luo’s group, and focusing on photoelectrochemical CO2 reduction.
Dr. Daniel Wun Fung Cheung
Daniel received his BSc(Hons.) in Chemistry from the University of Sheffield (UK) in 2014 and subsequently studied for his MSc in Polymers for Advanced Technologies at the same institution, receiving his masters degree in 2015. In 2016 he started his PhD studies at the University of Liverpool (UK) where he was based at the Stephenson Institute for Renewable Energy, he graduated in 2022. During his PhD his research focused on semiconductor photocatalysis for water splitting for hydrogen production.
After graduating, he joined Professor Jingshan Luo’s group at Nankai University as a postdoctoral researcher. He will focus on photocatalysis for water splitting and CO2 reduction.
Dr. Xiaobing Wang
Xiaobing Wang received his Ph.D. from the college of materials science & engineering at Huaqiao university in 2022. Now he is a postdoctoral researcher fellow in Prof. Jingshan Luo’s group at Nankai University. He is focusing on stable and highly efficient perovskite solar cells.
PhD students
Miss Qixian Xie
Qixian Xie obtained her bachelor degree in Chemical Engineering and Technology at Tianjin University in 2015 and received her master degree in Chemical Engineering from Beijing University of Chemical Technology in 2018, where she studied non-noble metal nanomaterials and their electrochemical applications. During the PhD study at Nankai University, she will focus on developing efficient and selective catalysts for electrochemical reduction of CO2.
Mr Linrui Duan
Linrui Duan received both his bachelor and master degrees in Chemistry from Xiangtan University in 2014 and 2017 respectively. From 2015 to 2017, he went to Qingdao Institute of Bioenergy and Bioprocess Technology of Chinese academy of Science for exchange study, focusing on organic photovoltaic device fabrication. Currently he is a PhD student in Prof. Luo’s group at Institute of Photoelectronic Thin Film Devices and Technology in Nankai University. He focuses on inorganic and semitransparent perovskite solar cells. He is a cooperative and considerate person in daily life and he enjoys music and Ping-Pong ball in his spare time.
Mr Mang Wang
Mang Wang received his Bachelor and Master degree from Shaanxi University of Science and Technology (2016) and Dalian University of Technology (2019), respectively. From now on (2019.06.14), he is pursuing his PhD degree under the supervision of Prof. Jingshan Luo in Nankai University, his research interests are focused on electrochemical and photoelectrochemical reduction of CO2 into fuels and chemicals.
Mr Yang Fu
Yang Fu received both his bachelor and master degrees in school of chemistry and materials science from Anhui Normal University in 2013 and 2017, respectively. From 2017 to 2018, he worked in Southern University of Science and Technology as a research assistant, focusing on nanostructure electrocatalysts towards water splitting. Now, he is a PhD student in Prof Luo’s lab and focuses on the development of nanostructured catalysts for electrochemical CO2 reduction.
Mr Jinshui Cheng
Jinshui Cheng received both his bachelor and master degrees in Environmental Chemistry from South-Central University for Nationalities in 2016 and 2019 respectively. He is now a PhD student in Prof. Luo’s group and he will focus on solar water splitting at Nankai University.
Mr Tiangyang Chen
Tianyang Chen received his bachelor degree in Chemical Engineering and Technology from Hefei University of Technology in 2015 and his master degree in Chemical Engineering from Tianjin University of Technology in 2019. From 2018 to 2019, he went to École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne for exchange study, focusing on perovskite solar cells. Currently he is a PhD student in Prof. Luo’s group at Institute of Photoelectronic Thin Film Devices and Technology in Nankai University. His research interest is high-efficency perovskite solar cells.
Miss Huanhuan Wang
Huanhuan Wang is received her master degree from Xinyang Normal University in 2020, and she has nearly three year experiences in fabricating PV devices. Currently she is a PhD student in Prof. Luo’s group. Her research interests is focused on exploring efficient and stable hybrid perovskite solar cells.
Miss Jia Zhao
Jia Zhao received her bachelor degree in College of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering from Qufu Normal University in 2017 and her master degree in College of Materials Science and Engineering at Nankai University in 2020. She is now a PhD student in Prof. Luo’s group, and she focuses on electrochemical and photoelectrochemical water splitting.
Mr Qingjie Wang
Qingjie Wang received his bachelor degree in College of Applied Chemistry from Shenyang University of Chemical Technology in 2017 and his master degree in College of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering at Central South University in 2020. He is now a PhD student in Prof. Luo’s group, and he focuses on electrochemical and photoelectrochemical water splitting.

Zhuang Zhang obtained his Bachelor’s degree at Nankai University in 2019 and he is now a PhD student in focusing on the stability of hybrid perovskite solar cells.

Linxiao Wu received her bachelor degree in chemical engineering and technology from Beijing University of Chemical Technology in 2019. She will focus on solar water splitting during her master study at Nankai University.
Miss Shilei Wei
Shilei Wei obtained her bachelor degree in Applied Chemistry at Central South University (CSU) in 2019. Then, she received the master degree in Chemical Engineering at Guangzhou University in 2022, and her research area was photocatalytic methane transformation. During her PhD study at Nankai University, she will focus on developing efficient and selective catalysts for electrochemical and photoelectrochemical reduction of CO2.

Guodong Gao obtained his Bachelor’s degree at Yangtze University in 2019. He is now a master student focusing on solar water splitting in Nankai University.
Mr Mengqi Liu
Mengqi Liu obtained his Bachelor’s degree at North University of China in 2020, and he is now a master student focusing on the hybrid perovskite solar cells.

Hao Chen obtained his Bachelor’s degree in College of Electronic Information and Optical Engineering at Nankai University in 2020, and he is now a master student focusing on photoelectrocatalytic reduction of CO2.
